Taken my son to see GP, he is now to be referred to a dermatologist, and should hear anytime.
Anyone any idea how long this can take if referred by own doctor?
    Cheers.

The GP said he is not too happy, even though its not actually severe, he doesn't seem to think there's been much improvement, and mentioned the dreaded medication on about earlier in this thread "Accutane" which I am worried about to be honest, but he did say it will be left to them to deal with now, they may not even agree to give it yet, but a series of bloods will be taken every 2 weeks.

I know the GP should always know best, but I do have my concerns on this medication, with my son also asthmatic as well, it seems it can cause breathing problems, but I suppose the derm specialist will know better.

pmsl Cleverclogs, what are you like?

Anyway, a little update on this subject of my son's acne.

The stuff as posted in my last post was working for a while but again coming out in breakouts , and we did purchase him a new rotary shaver as well for sensitive skin.

He has his appointment this coming new week.

But meanwhile, I had spend a few quid on the new Garnier stuff for him and I must admit, I can see a huge difference in just 3 days.

and a toner in that make as well, best to stick with the same brand, but the reddness is almost gone.
I know these things cost and luckily I have an advantage card, but if it makes him happy until a resolution can be found then I'm happy.

Hi I've just found this, one of my sons had the most revolting eruptions all over his face.
We tried different antibiotics but settled with oxytet, plus he was prescribed Duac gel for his face. He also uses Liz Earle's cleanse and polish on his face and the superskin concentrate. Although not cheap, most of the scaring has now cleared up. The cleanser comes with muslin cloths which take the top layer of muck off the skin plus the superskin does help to repair skin damage.
My son refused to have photos taken because he looked so bad but is now regaining his confidence.

Blimey, the Differin gel is absolutely fab up to now, within just days of my son being prescribed this it's done wonders, my son is chuffed up to now.

    Thank you all.
    Very interesting feedback and links.

Well we attended the appointment this morning and the doctor said what i said, its still early days, but although the main part of my son's face - the acne seems to be clearing, it's still a bit angry on his forehead, so what the doc did was change his meds and cream to something different and my son has to return back to see him in 2 months time.

    The new meds:
Doxycycline 50MG One to be taken daily
    And
Differin - 45g Adapalene 0.1 Gel - to be applied each day to the forehead area.

Might the appropriate homoeopathic treatment be black holes - link?

I've no idea, though, what "potency" (dilution) would be needed.
