Just wanted a take on this, not happy but can bear it i suppose.

Have recently been working PT, with fixed hours days etc, but with an agreement to cover if needed. Was quite happy with all the hours etc.

Today, with less tahn 48hours notice, been told days have changed to include EVERY Sunday!! Assume this will only be up until Xmas as sunday shoppers are likely to dive in numbers then (and everything will probably be changed again.)

Appreciate hours can be changed - but at such short notice? - also, whats the take on every Sunday - but as one person has put it to me, somebody will do it

      Re: Change in hours

Thanks Bboo ..... couple of things spring to mind.

I havent actually been given a COE, though there is one upstairs in the store (not that I know if it can directly apply to me)

Not much point in me opting out at present as pretty sure its only till xmas this plan.

Further, as I am still officially within a trial / probationary period, I could be making a rod for my own back so to speak.

Your in england right? I don't see the issue with Sunday working it is a day of the week I think "back in the day" people had sundays off but not anymore.

Also, changes to rota as long as you have 24 hrs notice thats all thats required.

Surely you get another day off during the week then right?

-- and depending on where you work if your a PT person it generally says 'Hours that suit the business" or something like that.

My Wife works for the Co-op and although she is not contracted to work Sundays it is very busy on that day.

She is not allowed holidays though in the month of December and if she needs time of for something urgent she has to swap shift with someone else.

              Re: Change in hours

              England??!! ENGLAND??!!

I dont particularly have an "issue" with Sunday, but it sort of ties up Saturday nights when most people I would socialise with are free. As on the link from BBoo you can opt out, but need to give 3 months notice.

24hours? - Well thats amswered that question! - I thought more notice would have to be given - especially if childcare needs are there (doesnt apply to me but does to others)

As I am PT I do get other days off yes, suppose I had just been used to current pattern.

The change is not really for a "business need" personally, I cant see the shop making much of a profit after paying two staf and electric bills for a Sunday (I think most was £300 last year - and thats takings, not profit)
