Re: ESA for son with Aspergers/Anxiety disorders

    Hi folks
I have an update on my son's ESA. Rather surprised how quickly this has progressed, I was talking to Atos or Maximus whoever they are (I've been in close contact with these) and she emailed me with updates of my son;'s claim. She told me a ESA113 been sent to the GP, and as soon as they receive that back they will review alongside with all the other evidence.

She told me, these are rarely sent out and with receiving this back from the GP my son will highly likely avoid having to attend a face to face etc....

I have been in touch with our GP who confirmed the form will be back with the dept this week and the girl from Atos said if its not received by Weds of this week, she will email me and for me to give them her direct fax details for them to send that way. However, the GP does have until Friday.

    Fingers crossed x

Hiya Di. It would be good if this could be sorted out without your son having the stress of a face-to-face assessment

          Thank you everyone.

I was told by GP that they are faxing the ESA113 back today, so fingers crossed its no messed up.

Does anyone know in regards of getting copies of these if GP's are obligated to provide us with a copy if I request one from him for my own records?

          Thanks x

              Thank you Pixie :-)

I received an email from Atos or Maximus, whatever they are called to confirm they have received the ESA115 from the GP this afternoon by FAX and same for info they received from his Community Paediatric team, they are now forwarding the information on to DWP for review and will be in touch once they know what is what. I did send in stacks of evidence but I was also informed in regards of the professional evidence we send ourselves they do also contact them for clarification and for any further info they may be able to give.

Everything crossed there will be no face to face med assessments to attend x

Are you allowed to be with your son during a face-to-face assessment if it happens ?

My daughter was forced to go through all sorts of assessments with court psychologists when I was getting divorced to ascertain why she refused to see her father (access issues). They would show her dollies and ask her if he'd touched her "there" which made me feel sick (I was allowed to observe though a two-way mirror). The day before one of these she was so distressed that I called the court and said she wasn't going to attend and they could do their worst. Surprisingly the judge said enough was enough and the assessments stopped.

I know my situation was different to yours, but I just wanted you to know how much a understand your need to protect your lad from such terrible intrusion into his private world, which is a place that only his Mummy really understands

                  Hi Plan B

Thank you for your reply x x

I am sorry to hear what your daughter went through and yourself of course as it is distressing for all concerned.

I was informed as my son''s appointee and carer, if required for an assessment I can be there with him and speak for him because of his anxieties, so hopefully that will still be the case if it did happen, fingers crossed it will not come to that. I spoke to the girl by email and she informed me as long as our GP provided the sufficient into on the ESA113 MED REPORT it will be very unlikely my son will have to attend one at all, then she sent me the link to info of the guidelines, that these ESA113 forms are now rarely sent to the GP if they believe that the claimant will not have to attend a face to face etc.........but we shall see. They have also today confirmed they have received all the evidence from my son's specialists and all this info is now being forwarded to the DWP for them to view.

So we have to wait now for a decision, it maybe that they will think he should attend a face to face, or they may decide on what relevant group.

Will keep you posted. Thanks again and hope your keeping well x x x x

Re: ESA for son with Aspergers/Anxiety disorders

Found this bit of info from google search x x

The claims processMost claimants will be sent a form, the ESA50,which asks for details of how their condition orimpairment affects their functioning.Further medical evidence may be sought at anytime from any claimant’s own doctor (using theform ESA113), but we understand that it is mostcommonly collected only in cases where an Atosdoctor decides that the claimant could potentiallybe placed in the support group without a face-tofaceassessment. Only about eight per cent ofESA claims involved the use of an ESA113 form,

                      I have fantastic news already!!

My son been placed in the Support Group of ESA, just waiting for the confirmation to come through the post now with all the info but I do know that the new rate will go up in April once the first 13 assessment rate week ends.

Thank you everyone, not bad for having a go at this myself completing the forms, due to the fact the person that was going to help within the disability service fell ill :-) x x
