Well just a quick post before I start another busy day. Friday is grass cutting day, (Mind you so is any other day).

I'm up early to spruce up the old pig sty (Handy's cottage) as late tonight I will be driving oop North to get Mrs Handy and collect a new car (well new to me). The car I got about this time last year is starting to play up so I have decided to replace it before it packs up completely. It has already cost me double what it's worth to get it running something like. Problem is I will still have to do more work on it before I can sell it. I couldn't rip anyone off, not like the bloke who sold it to me.

The trouble was although there are plenty of second hand cars down here as it is a mainly rural area there isn't a lot of competition in price, so if you want to pick up a bargain you have to go to a large city to get a bargain.

The other thing folk oop North are more sensible when it comes to deciding a price. You should have seen some of the junk down here that people were asking silly money for, some of them with only a few weeks MOT left. Yeh right I would buy a car with 12 weeks test left on, only to find that it's going to cost a fortune to keep on the road. (Some People have no Scruples), If your selling a car the least you can do is to wash it and put the hoover over the inside before anyone comes to look at it.

So fingers crossed for Handy that the new one will last him a while this time, and if anyone out there has a spare cylinder head complete with cam shafts for a Mitsibush space wagon, Handy will give them a fair price.

Story of my life since part 2 of the thread started, it's finding the time at the moment to write up my misadventures. I thought this week seeing that Mrs Handy is up in Yorkshire visiting the Kids, I would be able to dribble on (wax lyrical) about life at Hooray Hall, without getting nagged senseless about the time I spend on the interwobble. Not a chance! first I had the problems with the internet and then when your own your own no matter how self sufficient you are you still have to cook, eat and clean

Now when you are without your connection to the outside world it stops you from being spontaneous. If I could have posted as it happened I would have melted the keyboard, I have now calmed down a bit and Lady Hooray has stopped being such a Baitch.

The last couple of weeks she has really been on form. It started with the Sunday Lunch she hosted where 12 bottle of red were cleared between 7 and lunch lasted till 10 at night.

I listened to one of the guests leaving. (he had consumed 1/2 pint of G&T and a bottle of red) Take care now, drive careful you socialist, as he almost backed into 2 other parked cars, narrowly missed my cottage and vanished up our single track lane at 70 mph. This was the chap who admitted to our local High Court Judge that he didn't have nor had ever held a licence for his several shotguns, even to taking them in and out of the country in the back of his Range Rover. Result No Action after all old Etonians don't rat on one another.

She was griping about me having to have time off to take Mrs Handy to her Hospital appointments, (we are now waiting for a cancellation as she needs a total knee replacement as a matter of urgency). Best thing is I am self employed, I only get paid for what I do (and a lot of it is Gratis).

If only I was a year or two younger and jobs were as easy to come by as they used to be. I have never been known for keeping my temper when things need to be sorted. Mind you as I have installed most of the services at the Hall any more grief and things may start to run backwards.

I am having problems with my Karma ( don't get mad, get even )

Best thing was the lecture on making economies. When she buys anything mail order (that means everything, as she would not be seen dead in a changing room with the hoi polloi) she never takes the delivery notes off the packing. £100.00 for 3 blinking T shirts. Nothing fancy just cotton like you can get from Matalan for £9.00

You should have heard what she says about the budget, relieved when she learned that she won't be hit for mansion tax. Wouldn't have been a problem as No1 son is a top Tax Reduction Accountant.

Time to quit now, ooo I do feel better. Thing is I really like my life when I am allowed to get on with it. The location is beautiful and the work although sometimes physical is not difficult.

This is the chap Lady Hoorays Daughter has been seeing. I have deliberately left off the story for a while as she ended up undergoing conventional surgery at his Serbian clinic. She is now having Chemo? at least we think she is.

Amazing he now say's his own treatment at 50K+ a throw only helps a sufferer feel better in themselves. The Eternal excuse of a Conman when cornered, Honest Guv I didn't mean any harm and besides you can't con an honest person?

5 seconds ago, it was a short call! The chap didn't know it was back on. He said the diagnostic check they had run on the network must have corrected the problem. The first chap I spoke to yesterday evening turned my connection off and then back on all from his workstation somewhere in the Indian Sub Continent.

Now if he can do that, what's to say some spammer who has access to the network can't do the same thing.

This is the third time this has happened along with receiving a bill for £18.00 for directory enquiries we did not make time to change providers methinks?

BTW I did get the spurious charges refunded plus 3 month free line rental, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Naw it's not the mice, more like Rat's. The 2 legged variety in call centres that sell your details on to even larger rodents.

It's a nice new twist, if you can't get into someone's system. Interfere with their broadband connection on the ISP's network then call them offering to be of assistance.

By that time they will have disabled most of their defences and will be easy to crack.

Talk about Social Engineering malware at it's best.

Won't have done them any good as I don't do internet banking (I don't even have a bank account) and when I use pay pal I put my money in using gift cards or a pre paid card.

Anyway time to go I have a call back booked from Talky Twaty's tech department at 8.00

Hi all, quick explanation of why I have been silent for a few days. We had a run up North over the weekend Before I went the broadband was playing up. When I got back the early hours of this morning it was none existent. I took me an hour of calls to TalkTalks off shore call centre to get anywhere. I doubt if I will ever find out what caused the problem but I think I was Hacked in some way as I have just finished reloading my browser and deleting a load of corrupted files.

I'm still unsure as to how stable the PC is at the moment so if I go off again you will know!

I must remember my password so I can log in off my phone. It's frustrating not being to get into Anything Goes or being able to post a message.

Morning handy...

Now we have probs with the e-cig thread and like the 'other frugal forum'...

I find any mention of diets or diet sites or losing weight on the OFF triggery and it makes me feel bad and like if e-cigs aren't allowed then why should diet site links be allowed? Both are potentially dangerous (or not)...

Anyhow I mentioned this on both only to get the following retort 'at 14 I was 5'8" and 6 stone - nothing you can't tell me about anorexia and eating disorders' and I'm like - gee whiz thanks....So I'm now leper on both forums :
