That has made me think back to my childhood days and places where my late dad used this camera.

That's nice so thank you Kodak for that.

Kodak only managed to come up with inkjet printers, a market already saturated and dominated by Canon, Epson and HP for more than a decade!

Let's hope Shittigroup don't see any of the $950m loaned to Kodak, wonder whether that loan coud be

And despite there printer refills being cheaper and them advertising heavily on that point there printers where shite and the reason I chose HP instead.

I actually prefer lots of smaller firms than one big firm. However for obvious reasons it's currently cheaper to go to the likes of Tesco et al, but if there was no Tesco, then what?

Worth pondering - childhood memories consisted of Gateway, CoOp, Spar, Presto & Safeway.....

Absolutely. Actually childhood memories consist of there being no supermarkets at all. Safeway came from Fine Fare - remember that? Fine Fare bought out loads of Co-ops who I think were the first Supermarkets as we know them.

God, when I was young, everything was bought from traders that came round to your door.

Re the printers, the early ones had horrendous problems with the print heads. I've got one of the newer ones which Kodak kindly gave me after I made my opinion of their previous ones clear to them. I buy non-genuine inks for almost nothing and it's brilliant. As long as there's a demand, people will make the product.

Kodak files motion to auction digital imaging patents

Eastman Kodak has sought permission to auction off more than 1,100 of its patents in an effort to save the firm. The photography pioneer filed for bankruptcy protection in January. It stopped making digital cameras shortly afterwards. The firm said it hoped to announce the winning bidder by 13 August. Recent lawsuits have driven up patent prices, but a ruling last month against one of Kodak's key innovations may cause uncertainty about its portfolio. Kodak, which now specialises in printing equipment, said that 20 parties had already shown interest in the sale.

              Secret bids
A press release noted that it only planned to announce the winning bidder and the amount they had paid, so as not to expose the...Read more here: BBC News - Kodak files motion to auction digital imaging patents

Kodak set to quit camera film and photo paper business

Debt-struck photography pioneer Kodak says it may sell off its still-camera film and photo paper divisions. The firm has already stopped making digital cameras as part of efforts to reduce its losses after filing for bankruptcy protection in January. It has also been trying to raise funds by selling off more than 1,100 digital imaging patents. It had originally planned to announce a buyer last week, but said "discussions continue" and a deal might not happen. Apple and Google had been reported to have made rival bids for the patents, but the Wall Street Journal reports they have now joined forces and have added Samsung, LG, HTC and others to their consortium........Read more here: BBC News - Kodak set to quit camera film and photo paper business

I dare say the directors won't be short of money though

Lexmark to quit inkjet printer business

Lexmark has announced it will quit the inkjet printer business as part of efforts to improve its profitability. The US firm said it would stop development of the technology by 2013 and close its inkjet supplies factory in Cebu, Philippines by 2015. It added that 1,700 jobs would be lost as a result.....Read more here: BBC News - Lexmark to quit inkjet printer business

We ALL know that its cheaper to buy a New Lexmark rather than BUY the over priced ink cartridges from them......... Must admit Prints were good once from there machines!
I remember once £19.95 for a Black Ink Lexmark printer - Ink Cartridge was £29.99 (made more sense to throw old one away and buy a New Printer - lol)

UK pensioners snap up Kodak's film business

Thousands of British pensioners are to inherit the iconic Kodak film and printing businesses. The pensioners, all members of the UK Kodak Pension Plan (KPP), will have their income backed by the company's global revenues. KPP paid £419m to buy the businesses, to help the US parent company, Eastman Kodak, get out of bankruptcy. The deal means that 15,000 pension fund members will now have to accept reduced benefits. The British pension fund will also drop a claim against Kodak of £1.8bn, which was the current pension scheme's deficit.....Read more here
