  • Had a letter from Barclaycard (unsure of which account atm as we had several) saying I've been refunded £180.45 due to their unfair practices. They say they are paying this directly to PRA group. This won't go against me with statute-barred, will it? I'm not acknowledging the debt, Barclaycard are.

Only just over a year to go to Statute-barred (yay). I'm guessing the creditors will ramp up their efforts now?

      Hiya,
you are not making the payment so can't say you acknowledge the debt.
just keep the letter safe as proof.

Yes you may get a flurry of letters/ calls, just keep ignoring them.
      nearly at the finish line.

        This isn't PRA money either!
BUT they now know that BARCLAYCARD have admitted their processes and figures were WRONG!
So the Letter is a TREASURE!

Don't remind them. If you can block their messages, do so, otherwise ignore.

          • I believe the last time I acknowledged these debts was 6.5 years ago. Do I need to do anything to get statute barred or is it best just to leave it?

That's a blanket question, but each account has individual circumstances. The date when each account was defaulted is also important.

At "believed" 6.5 years, I would do nothing. Statute Barred is Statute Barred, you don't need to do anything (eg serve a notice) to achieve it. At this stage, I think just leave it.

              • It becomes statute barred simply by not acknowledging it for the appropriate time period.

I agree with Still Waving - just keep quiet unless they send an LBA.
