As a dear friend of mine says , something is not quite right here

      Have they defaulted you?
I think even after default they can charge statutory interest but am not sure , even that is 8% so on your balance it's a hell of a lot of money.
I would think that there is some abuse of power on the OC's part. If they were that convinced that they had behaved they would be talking either SD or at least a CCJ

I assume they've defaulted you. I thought they couldn't charge interest once it's defaulted? (I may be wrong...)

BTW it would be an idea to link to the post of the debt on the first page of your diary so we know which one it is (click on the post number to bring up that post in a new window and then highlight the url and copy and paste it into your updating post.)

They state the account is not in default as they have provided all they need to provide and I should contact them to discuss,a bit scary at the moment with all that money going on each month. I have sent the templates up to missing PT as suggested but they ignore it and keep demanding I contact them to discuss, cheers {Pez

I have no idea what to suggest. One for Niddy

So never been sent a Default notice or anything like that. I assume for all those years you were making arranged payments that fell short of the interest being charged.

I have no advice to offer, except trust in Niddy and Co

No expert myself either but would think this is just the start of the threat o gram machine.

From your thread it appears Niddy says its UE so suppose they could add what they like as it dont make much difference if you aint paying.

Just found a letter from them dated 03.10.12 stating "This is a notice of default sums applied to your account and provided to you in compliance with the CCA 1974".

They added £10 for the letter to the amount already outstanding, do you think this means it is in default, no other letters mentioning "default", cheers Pez

Sounds like a default notice (DN). You didn't keep the envelope as well, did you? Keep that DN safe, it may come in handy one day if they ever tried to go legal...

Yes, the account would be in default if you are not paying...

Some of my debts didn't default me until I lost my job and went down to £1 per month(CL finance and MBNA both registered the default in 2011 even though I had been in an arrangement from 2006)

Hi Guys, just received the following from Paranob:

                            Dear Mr P
With reference to the above account, Please be advised as there have been no payments on the account we have changed the interest rate to the full contractual amount. If you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact the office on the above telephone number. Thank you for your attention in this matter, we look forward to hearing from you, yours sincerely Etc Etc

This is the company who agreed to freeze interest in 2000 but charged it until 2009 when the change in the CCA regulatons stated they had to keep me informed of the balance on a yearly basis, they then froze interest but the loan had risen from £1900 to £22,343. If they charge interest on this amount it will mean over £100 a month going on to the bill, Niddy says it is UE but they state they have provided everything, any suggestions how I deal with this, many thanks Pezman
