I know all about rogue posters although last week I finally admitted defeat and gave in as I had no more IP addresses I could use. They are welcome to themselves.
Seems that debt is run by Mr check your CRA and the wannabe general and PDL's by a very silly (not been a girl for a very long time ) and a renegade who wouldn't know the law and common sense if it came and punched him in the face which is what I frequently wanted to do . Alas I was outnumbered and out gunned but went down with a fight. Doubt I will ever venture back there as it raises my blood pressure

The fight started going some time ago. I'm not sure whether it coincided with all those ads on there or not but it seems to provide a politically correct kind of information these days.... no more than that.

I can never understand why you need to check your credit file. You know that if you have been defaulted, you have listings there.

There are still a few over there trying to help with advice and legal stuff, but the Lets take them on attiude seems to have deserted most, with the exception of a few.

But you still need the bodies if you are going to attract advertisers.

You don't need to check your credit file and if you're in as much of a mess as I was in some years ago, it could be the absolute WORST move to make. I was shot down in flames for saying that the CRAs are linked to debt collection outfits, despite having personal experience of being traced that way.... and, stumbling across info. that implied that Westcot were owned by Equifax (I think .... please don't quote me though).

The only way around it is NOT to check your credit file and if applying for credit, NOT to link yourself up to the previous address you were at....

              Re: PriorityOne & CPUTR 2008

You know, when I first started this, I was mainly fighting my PDL's and I got suckered into believing what they told me, eg Loan+1months interest, change bank account etc etc and I sadly perpetuated the myths. Then I went onto the green looking at B/R advice and a very nice very large lady plucked me from there to here. As I was silly enough to use the same name on all 3 sites , well Jon is my name I was soon banned from Cag and again and again etc etc. About 30secs is my record.
In a purely selfish way I hope this site doesn't get too big as Niddy would never be able to cope but there are a lot of us that need help.

Oh and the other thing I love about this site is that people cope with me when I get carried away or go down the wrong track.

Well now you do.... so be careful.

People are also traced through DVLA records.... that's how my old mortgage company found me.

A long time ago now though....

I'm sure that is the case. They must get a flag when your credit file is accessed.

If you don't provide a previous address to a credit ref. agency, then it/they won't link you up.... hence all the phishing expeditions from DCAs who often contact people in the hope they'll confirm this for them.

If you link yourself up to a previous address however; either by requesting your credit file or, by applying for credit somewhere, then they've got you.

Well all they'll see on my CRA file is 18 Defaults on over £100k debt and not a penny paid to anyone since 2009. I hope they'll sum me up as a 'no-hoper'

I've got 8 linked addresses on my file (don't ask ) and have no intention of applying for any more credit in my lifetime. But I expect creditors do run random checks every now and then to see if I've come into money and paid others off. No chance.

I've also seen searches by debt purchasers such as Lowells but they never bought anything of mine. Maybe they do the odd risk assessment before taking on a debt too.

Well, I expected a deluge of correspondence after inheriting money and paying my mortgage off (not the repo. one.... that was sorted years ago).... yet nothing happened at all.

The only notable difference was that my bank agreed to an account upgrade, inlcuding a £1700 overdraft facility in a flash....
