      Re: DCA demand letter

Well, after ignoring the last letter from the DCA I've received the most ridiculous follow-up. I laughed when I read it. It just looked really cheap and smacked of desperation.

It has this border repeating the words 'Security Telemessage' - and in the centre the text expresses concern over my no-response to their last letter and asks me to call urgently - as if?

Me thinks this one one will get ignored to!!

well done you're getting the hang of this, I concur, a bit more ignoring in order here.

I haven't seen one of these before!! Are you able to scan it and remove personal identifiers and post it up to look at?

I'd be curious to see what breaches of OFT guidelines and CSA guidance have occurred here (no doubt lots). May be worth a punt to complain to the OFT and FOS if the letter is misleading, especially if its been formatted to look more 'legal'.

Risk of a 500quid fine may be enough to make them scurry back where they came from.

Its because this is the 'accepted' guidance issued by the various debt charities to make a debtor show willing to pay their debts.

While I understand the sentiment, at the same time, it is rarely anyone who is advised to do this is also explained the consequences.

Personally I see little point in paying such an amount for anything longer than a default or CCJ is likely to stay on a credit file.

Chances are, that you would pay 2quid a month for the next 20 years only for the fockers to then default you with a couple of payments left and screw you for a further six years.

Believe it - I have seen creditors do this!

Better to take the hit early, let them default you and then negotiate a payment plan if you have to (or look at UE as a leverage tool).

There are always extenuating circumstances of course but I agree the 'token' payment does very little, especially if the creditor is still applying interest & charges.

SnV ^^^^ agreed thus I also maintain that stance, ie why bother if it'll have a worse effect than the 'punishment' itself....

Any dmp of 6+ years, stop paying now - get defaulted then if you really want to, commence repayments (or don't - it's up to you) - BUT get the bloody thing defaulted sooner than later

Cheers for clarifying my post, it's the same thing but yours explains things as if it was my own words

                  Re: DCA demand letter

Well after ignoring lots of 'generic' letters from the DCA, I've now received another 'generic' letter headed:

Notice of Intended Legal Action - but in the smaller print it only states that my account MAY be passed to their solicitors for legal action to be taken.

Is now the time to send of a CCA request or ignore a little longer??

I think it would be a good idea.

A couple of questions (apologies if I missed this in previous posts).

Have you actually been defaulted/received a default notice for this alleged debt?

Have you been receiving any statements for the account?
