Fraud? The only fraud was that piece of paper THEY gave you.

What is this nonsense? It's a payday loan FFS!!

    Nervous, why?

CC - careful the banks will not roll over if you quote this thus we say a stolen card is better and proven to work.

Jees talk about taking a horse to water

Sorry but I thought this was done; waiting on a new card already!! Evidently not

    Thanks clever clogs!

Does it make a difference if I report the card lost or stolen?

I am so nervous about which one to do with regards writing to the payday people or the bank! What impact will each one have?

    Thanks

I haven't, but I'd not need to do that as I rarely take out any continued payment mandate over which I do not have complete control.

As for whether or not one would be believed, the only objection that the bank might have would be if you'd used the card for transactions such as shopping after the date you claimed it was stolen.

I believe a safer way would be to write to the bank, using Regulation 55 (3) and (4) of the Payment Services Regulations 2009 (link) to withdraw or revoke one's consent from a transaction or a series of transactions with a stated payee or payees.

No explanation needs to be given to the bank as to why one's consent has been revoked.

Stop paying them & send this like Niddy said......

    Dear Sirs,

    Ref: xxxxxxxx

I write with reference to the outstanding balance on this account. Unfortunately I am no longer in employment and thus I cannot afford to repay the balance.

I also no longer live at the address held on file, and cannot give you a forwarding address as I am currently residing in my car. Obviously given the nature of things, please remove all phone numbers and addresses from my account as you'll be wasting your time - I'm moving away and when I get settled and in work I'll be in touch with new contact details.

In the meantime you can contact me using the following email address which I'll pick up as and when I log-in via an internet cafe.

    Email address: name@whatever.com

    Yours faithfully,
