I did not enter into a 'new' arrangement with Barclays this year after the default dropped off. I have been paying those b*stards since 2003 and all through the default period.

Thank you for your help and above all for your moral support.

Surely that statement is wrong as well. Their information regardless of where it comes from MUST be accurate.

Seriously, the issue here is CLEARLY that these knob jockeys use automated systems and constant monitoring of credit files is required. Earns them ££££.

I'm seriously f*cked off now and have already fired off a complaint to Equifax and asked Barcrap to re-open my complaint. I'm going for compo if these monkey spanks carry on like this!!!!

              Re: Barclays Problem

Hi. I'm sorry to report that I have today received this letter from Barclays. They are saying that although the account defaulted in 2006 they are entitled to report an arrangement because I am repaying them.

              Is that correct?

The CRAs removed the account and I have about 4 letters from the bank saying that they will remove it. But today I got this out of the blue:

"Having reviewed the copies of your credit file I have discussed your case with both our Recoveries team and our Data Team. Upon further investigation we have found that there are no defaults registered on your credit file [NO SHIT BATMAN, THAT'S BECAUSE IT CAME OFF AFTER 6 YEARS IN MAY]

"I have ben advised by our Recoveries team that your arrangement to repay the [FOR THE RECORD, NO NEW ARRANGEMENTS]

"This will report on your credit files for as long as this is active and for SIX YEARS after the arrangement comes to an end.

"The arrangement will showe a start date and an end date and will stay on for the life of the account plus six years.

"As a result of my findings we are unable to make any amendments to the current information on your credit files."

Barcrap did this to me . when i complained they said there was no record on their system of a default, and they could report a default at any time, but i had a printout of a CRA report with it on and complained to the CRA, they got it removed,

So focus on the CRAs with this?

                    Re: Barclays Problem

I would, they are reporting faulty data as far as you are concerned,

If Barcs won't do anything this is your only option, but see what anyone else thinks,( incase i'm wrong)
or see if you can get some compo out of this

                      Re: Barclays Problem

Personally I would write one brief letter to all three and Barcraps, probably to Anthony Jenkins Barclays CEO telling them this was in error once before and it was sorted. They admitted it was wrong then so why the change.

Either they all sort it out or you will be complaining to ICO and FOS for the wrong reporting of data.

Give em a set amount of time to respond then report them.

Seems you have some monkey who thinks he is clever.

                              Blodwin

Just scanned through your thread mega fast so I apologise if I have missed it.

This is a loan? Have you sent a CCA request off? Have you sent a copy to Niddy?

Think by just stopping yes you would get their attention alright but could also lead the account down ways you arent expecting or wishing.

Always from my limited experience best to maneouvre them into places where you hold the hand and they are the ones trying to make you blink first.

                                Re: Barclays Problem

Blodwin as far as i can recall (we are having the same problem with LLoyds)
If the account is defaulted and the default is recorded with the CRAs then after 6 years the Default is removed wether the account is paid up or not,
they cannot then start recording an Arrangement to pay as this would be unfair to you
where they state that the arangement to pay will stay on your file for 6 years after the arrangement ends is because if they sell the account, decide to cancal the arrangement,(which they will do without warning) or you stop paying they will default you and the DEFAULT stays on the record, so this would be a Second default for the same account NOT ALLOWED
I would send a letter along the lines of I am NOT in or agreed to any arrange ment to pay ,you defaulted the account 6 years ago and if you continue to report adverse Data I may take the matter further and seek legal advice and
Complain to the ICO, and OFC,FOS also seek financial redress for the stress caused by the incorrect reporting of the account,
also send one to all CRAs Data controler
please note this is what I would do others may go along another path
