  • NEW TYPE OF FUEL BEING INTRODUCED FROM SEPTEMBER

I have just found out via Moneysavingexpert that a new 'Greener' (but less efficient) fuel is replacing Premium Unleaded E5 (95 octane). This is the first I have heard about it. Some older cars may not be compatible with this new E10 fuel, in which case owners would need to use the more expensive E5 Super (97+ octane).

You can check whether your older vehicle is compatible with E10 on the government website here - https://check-vehicle-compatibility-.../manufacturer/

and more information here - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/e10-petrol-explained

    Diesel vehicles are not affected.

    Thanks SW

I have just found out about this too, Slightly worrying as a total fan of keeping my old cars in the household ( Bangers - Not classic cars btw) on the road

A lot of cars from around 1998 onwards are compatable apparently but there will be some that are not suitable

The being less fuel efficient thing is worrying too

Welcome to the future, where everything is Greener, costlier, and less efficient.

No wonder those in and around Government are clinging to their diesels.

I suppose it could be a cunning plan by government to gradually fark up everybody's ICE with this new fuel, so that they have no option but to go for electric vehicles, or public transport.
