What a wonderful Lady. "She did not suffer in the end, her heart just stopped, and she passed peacefully." "For me it was her way of saying she's OK now and finally back together again with my dad."
My condolences to you and your family and if my say without offending my prayers for you and yours.

Hi guys. Hope everyone is well. Haven't been around for a while mainly because I've been busy working single handedly in the family business, looking after my kids and of course my mother.

I thought I would let everyone who was following my mother's illness know that sadly, she passed away Thursday night.

Since I last updated this thread my mother had been diagnosed with a tumour in the kidney which has spread to the liver. The specialist said it had been there for quite a while and it was inoperable given her health.

However she did manage to overcome this and it didn't really affect what remaining time she had.

A week before Christmas this year my mother had a serious water infection which turned to sepsis, she was in hospital for a week and then released home for Christmas with full NHS end of life funding care. She had been given carers 4 times a day to help her and finally freed me up to concentrate on my family and work.

She did appear to overcome the sepsis but it left her unable to walk, and she ended up being bed ridden. But where ever possible I still made sure I got her out the house in a wheelchair to maintain some sort of life.

Sadly it appears that the sepsis returned last week, and each day she continued to decline once again, after consulting with the paramedics and her St Lukes hospice nurses it was agreed that any treatment would just prolong the inevitable. I stayed with her, we talked for a while and at 11:30 Thursday 29th March, she passed away while we watched a film.

She did not suffer in the end, her heart just stopped, and she passed peacefully.

It's going to be a long road for me now as she was such a massive part of my life before and after she became ill. But I will continue to try and make her proud of me as much as I can.

I take some comfort in what happend later that night, believe what you will but I believe it was a sign. My mother always said she would try to prove she was still around after her body dies and I believe she did just that. While waiting for the doctor to come during the early hours of the morning I asked her to prove it, and well something made me look in a draw id been in hundreds of times before, inside was a photo of my mother and late father I'd never seen before in my life. Of them together 25 years ago. For me it was her way of saying she's OK now and finally back together again with my dad.

Thank you to everyone who supported me on these forums. And now I have some free time I may stick around again. (will prob have some probate questions etc)

    Thank you all once again.

She had two hospital appointments last week, one with cardiologist and another with medicine for the elderly.

She has complained of her skin feeling itchy and on fire, so they prescribed her piriton, which she tried to take, but had major side effect. She said it made her so drowsy that she felt strange all night, like she was in a coma rather than sleeping, felt dizzy and sick, so we have stopped her taking those now, will look in to another type for her.

The cardiologist was a bit of a cow to be honest. She didn't have all the notes on her system and refused to listen to any information I gave her that wasn't on her system.

Kept explaining her blood sugar was 12.3 and she kept saying, I have no record of that. What, am I a liar now?

Anyway, they are reluctant to do an angiogram, but are going to do another less invasive technique to see the state of play with her arteries, this is scheduled for around May next year. She doesn't believe my mother would benefit from having a stent because she has no symptoms like chest pain etc. They just want to concentrate on managing heart failure with medication.

Changed her diuretic to another type which helps improve heart function.

She had an ECG, and her heart rate is 75, so that's good news.

Cardiologist was a bit of a nightmare to be honest. She didn't understand why my mother would be taken off warfarin in January and placed on another anticoagulant. Kept explaining to her that she was only placed on warfarin because they noticed a blood clot in the heart prior to discharge from hospital, and they had always planned on it being for 6 months only. Even the warfarin clinic have said shes only scheduled to receive it until 5th January 2015.

Again, because her computer was lacking all the notes, she would not listen to me.

Left there thinking sod you, its up to us once again to manage things ourselves.

I will pray then, i know exactly how your feeling my dad has had heart problems for years he recently had another heart attack on my 50 th birthday and has had a pacemaker fitted , good news is he doesn't need to go back for another 15 years with that lol. Sorry to hear about your mum and all the problems my prayers will be for her daily .

Thanx for the info. They wasn't worried about the vitamin c as she has her INR monitored every 4 weeks anyway they would just adjust the dose.

Her breathing has also improved as a result. So back to the gym to build up her strength again.
Glad things are improving for you both. Just sticking my medical hat on but be careful with vitamin C as this can interfere with warfarin and reduce its effectiveness (you might know this already given everything that has gone on). A dietician should be able to advise on what supplements to give dependent on which type of anaemia your mom has had.

got my blue badge pretty quick as I use a stick mostly now as aggravated muscle in the back and awaiting injections, mind you bit late now over a year waiting., also walking distance marred without stopping, originally had hip replacement!

Mum's been accepted and awarded attendance allowance of 54 pounds a week back dated to 27th October. So that's brilliant. Just waiting on whether they allow her to have a blue badge or not.
