      Re: Glenny's Payday Loans

You should (hopefully) get a sensible response from Wonga at the moment.

They are under the stoplight from the OFT on the way the deal with debtors and how they manage communication and have had requirements imposed on them.

While this is happening Wonga have had to play ball a little more and I've seen a lots of 'good' behaviour.

Fingers crossed for you that you will get the same.

Regards LLoyds TSB's response to your request to cancel the CPA, this is complete garbage from them.

You also have the right to 'ring fence' your money and could have asked them to do this. However many branch managers do not understand the regulations surrounding this either.

Safest way is to move banks (if practical) and report your debit card lost in a public place.

          Re: Glenny's Payday Loans

Well guys finally recieved an reply from the wonga group as below. So heres my first step of getting debt free MAY I SAY A BIG THANKYOU TO YOU ALL!
          Dear xxxx
Our aim is always to help you settle your loan as quickly as possible and acknowledging difficulty in repaying is actually half the battle, so we really appreciate you getting in touch and discussing a repayment plan.
Whilst we cannot enter into a new agreement, I am happy to confirm we will accept your payments against the original agreement according to the plan below. Also, as a matter of our entire discretion we will freeze interest as long as the plan is maintained, because we are keen to help you settle the balance.
Promise DateRepayment Amount28 Sep 2012£xxxx 28 Oct 2012£xxxx28 Nov 2012£xxxx28 Dec 2012£xxxx28 Jan 2013£xxxx28 Feb 2013£xxxx28 Mar 2013£xxxx28 Apr 2013£xxxx28 May 2013£xxxx28 Jun 2013£xxxxPlease to the MyAccount section of the site to review and verify your plan. Don't worry if you have forgotten your password as you can request a new one at the login page.
Once logged in and having verified the arrangement, you can keep track of your payments at any time. You can also add a debit card, or choose your primary card, from where we'll take payments unless agreed otherwise.
If you miss a payment which has become due under the plan, the full remaining balance under that plan will become due and payable to us and will be automatically collected from your debit card. We may also make further attempts to collect the money from your debit card, or any other card you have chosen, either in one payment or in several amounts on a continuing basis until the amount you owe us is repaid.
We therefore encourage you to stick to the plan if at all possible but, if you become aware of a problem or want to discuss the arrangement, please call our friendly team on 0844 842 9109.
We look forward to receiving your first payment.

              Result!
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

I think kilasuit means SO - Standing Order as opposed to direct debit, that way you are in charge of what they take and when.

                            Glenny

PLEASE be very careful about what Wonga have put in their response to you.

They are still saying that they will try to collect the outstanding balance by making attempts to take money from your card.

When the new card arrives please make sure that the number on the card is different to the old one.

I would also go back into a branch of Lloyds TSB and INSIST they cancel the recurring payment authority. Print off the legislation that Niddy gave you a link to if needed and take that with you in the event they try to bullshit you again.

You need say nothing more than you wish the authority to be removed/revoked. Don't tell them you still have an outstanding balance, just that you want to cancel the payment authority.

If they won't do this, just to be on the safe side, I would consider opening up a parachute bank account with another unrelated bank and make sure that you don't have all your eggs in one basket.

They shouldn't do it, but banks have been known to transfer payment authorities from one bank card to another.............

Just don't want to see you get your bank account wiped clean.

                                Well done - very sensible

If you have no overdraft facility/debt with your current bank, once your new account and everything is set up I would also be tempted to close your existing account.

Its also not unheard of for banks to permit unauthorized overdrafts when payday loan companies take out recurring payments, meaning that you are then shafted with a load of bank charges too...........
