Yea I like the look of it but Cuba is around £900 each for 2wks. Cayman is a wee bit more.

Happen to be going on leave and got turned back with 3 others at the guardroom, and told to go and see the Adjutant, only to be told we were on Standby to join a Regular Unit who may be sent to Fort Lauderdale in USA to back up yanks, as there is a crisis over Cuba, that was it, we had to stay at the sergeants mess as the Regiment were going on leave and blocks locked, we were stood down 6 days later and told to go on the long weekend we missed (Mid Week).

          Re: Vanquis Gold!

I have had mine now for nearly a year and it seems the less you use it and pay it off each month the higher the limit goes to the current 2k + !

I now even get weekly text messages telling me how much cash I have available to spend !!

          Responsible lending or what ??

              Re: Vanquis Gold!

I applied about 6 months ago for a Vanquis card when my BR was discharged, and I'd spent about 4 months clearing up credit records. Was accepted even with a few defaults still showing .. which needed removing.

Initial limit £500. I used it, but very sensibly and after 3rd or 4th month I was upped to £1k limit.

Going to give it a few months more use, and then apply for Capital One too. Only for Credit Rebuilding purposes of course. Wouldn't dare get in a mess again!

                Re: Vanquis Gold!

Got a Vanquis card a few months ago (first in years) and have used it sensibly...wacked up my limit within three months and they give me helpful texts every few weeks to encourage spending. They did mess up on my direct debit but to be fair they cancelled any interest (as a gesture of goodwill even though it was their cock-up) and so no problems. In the meantime it has helped to improve my credit rating so Santander have given me a nice shiny card so slowly but surely will use this more. I read that some folks have had problems with Vanquis but so far they have been okay...ignoring their repeated requests to take out payment protection. Happy bunny as it makes life easier...

                  Happy days mate!
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.
