I am really sorry you felt I was judging - please believe me that was the last thing on my mind.

I was suggesting you tried, if possible to get the facts from your grandson - it really doesn't matter if he exaggerated his income a little and he would not be the first person to stretch the truth on an application form

Many many years ago, I took the DWP to task because my stepson swore he had not received his 'giro'. I complained and made a right fuss- how do you think his mum and I felt when they produced a signed receipt for said giro. Maybe that makes me a little cautious these days

What is needed is a plan to tackle these debts. If that plan needs amending for his benefit then that is what needs to be done.

People come onto this forum with all sorts of problems, I don't judge and I know others don't judge so once again the sincere apologies if you think I was

To paraphrase my own Dad- anything is manageable if you know the facts

If I might intercede - Warwick65 has apologised twice in his post. If you really want help for your grandson from the forum, could you not be a little gracious and accept the apology for what it is?

As for laying his life bare, he is going to remain completely anonymous to us here, so you need not be troubled on that score.

Again, please read what I said.

I am sorry if I offended

I did not ask you to lay his life, or yours bare. I just suggested YOU were aware of all the circumstances so YOU could help him. I have already linked you to help with affordability complaints.

These companies and the debt purchasers who buy them have few morals and sail so close to the law they frequently stray onto the wrong side.

          Anyway
          Goodnight

Hi batsman and welcome to AAD

I am sorry if Warwick has annoyed you with his comment.
I am sure Warwick was not trying to make an "instant" judgement,
I think they were just trying to make you aware of the things some people do when desperate toget that extra money, (don't forget they also had payday loans)
we are all on this site because of " Mistakes" made at one time or another, we cannot judge because we do not have all the facts, or know the reasons why anyone takes the course of action that they decide on,
I am just so glad that your grandson has put his trust in you and I hope you will please trust Warwick to help point you in the right direction,

            Nightwatch xx

here is a decent guide to getting them https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds

I agree with Warwick's advice to make affordability complaints on all the PDLs.

Specific help can be given once you've made a post for each one so it's clear who the lenders are/were.

Have any of them been assigned (i.e. sold) to a debt purchaser? If so the complaint would go to the original lender while at the same time making the debt purchaser aware that there is a complaint (and therefore a dispute) going on.

Who is chasing him for that debt?
