Also, is there a maximum offer we should stop at? Again, I'm not under any pressure so assume I hold all the cards - the court repayments in place means the account is all quiet otherwise.

      Cheers ears!
      Hiya

when you get round to making offers PM me, I'll help you with this myself mate

As for court order thingy, if it's a ccj it lasts until paid then drops off (trust online etc) but your credit file itself would normally be clear - however paying the court order would be easiest...

Nice to see the place growing, looks amazing, and no doubt you're still on here 24/7 as well!

          I'm Bacccckkkkkkkkkkkkk!

Obviously it's been YEARS, so I have forgotten my log in details for now .

Just a quick note to say hi, and that one of my cards has come BACK FROM THE DEAD.....grrrrrrrrr.

Barclaycard have flogged my Egg card to Marlin Capital Europe, so my first contact in almost 18 months (see below).

In the end I didn't use my money to settle or make offers on these debts, but left my job and set up a new business on my own (hence different email address and cant find old password) - its going well, but not paying a wage yet so I'm not in a position to really sort this debt. I do have some capital left, but I need it to live on this year and to help out the business until it can stand on its own feet. Losing a chunk to an offer on this might not be the best use for now.

Anyways, I'm guess I just wait for now, as I've just got the initial letter asking me to contact them.

I'm off out now, but will be back later today to see whats changed around here! ....also to check out the latest legal stuff on what people have been doing.....

Site looks more awesome than it ever did! Kudos NIDDY!

          1. EGG CC
          Approx balance: 10.5k

[size=5]1/07/10 - sent first CCA request
17/07/10 - received docs back (these are new print outs, not a true copy) DOES include the phrase "Approved Limit"
26/07/10 - sent first phone harassment letter. Also awaiting current judgement due September of EGG wording as noted by NID. Following that thread before making my next move.
27/07/10 - first call from Capital Credit Agency. Which is part of EGG, so the debt hasn't gone far yet.
03/09/10 - All phone calls stopped soon after I sent the request. Received letter saying they were allowed to call me, but not a single call for well over a month.
03/09/10 - just got a letter form CCA (part of egg) usual guff but with a new bit - your account "may" be forwarded to our specialist customer contact company - Resolve Call: that "may" request one of their contact managers to visit your home address.... I note they have still to default my account despite all this and months of non payment - come on! get on with it!
07/09/10 - "dont you think about coming to my house, muppets." letter sent.
08/10/10 - Finally! EGG has defaulted me, but it gives me 28 days to pay 1800 arrears before the default is registered with credit ref agencies. It says from 29/10 they will demand full settlement etc, instrunt solicitors or debt collection agency, teminate agreement etc.
07/12/10 - Account now with CDUK (a trading style of Improved Financial Solutions Ltd), they have been auto phoning me for about 6 weeks, with the odd real life person. Have now recieved my first threat-o-gram from them. "our client could take court action" etc and so on.
11/12/10 - sent letter as advised by NIDs - dont threaten me with leagal action etc
16/12/10 - Recieved phone message desputing my legal response above. Also recieved letter from Solicitors to a work address that pre-dates my legal letter above by a few days.
05/01/11 - Recieve about 2 missed calls from CDUK a week now, no postal contact recently. Yet to make formal complaint about harrasment at work, but will do as advised.
16/02/11 - bespoke Niddy letter sent off the Solicitors who have sent two letters to my work place.

17/02/11 - It seems CDUK and their poxy solicitors have given up and returned the account to EGG. First contact from a new DCA, called ARC.
13/3/11 - Letter response from new DCA to previous letters saying they would look into it.
3/11 - Threat of Northhamton court from DCA "solicitor" T Munn. Responded with both previous letters I have sent.
14/4/11 - DCA have put account on hold while they investigate my reply.
24/5/11- letter from DCA "solicitor" Mr Trev Munn, same old letter, threat of Northampton court.
13/6/11 - letter from DCA offering a settlement for a reduced amount if I get in contact within 14 days.

I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

you need to keep on top of marlin, so I would be sending either a prove it or a sold in dispute now

                            *dusts himself down*

Well, I'm back (once more etc)......

I'm finally in a position to sort out my credit rating and clear some of the last debts that are clinging on, with a view to getting a small mortgage in about 1-2 years time if needed (currently have one, will be hopefully paid off in a year).

What I have in a nutshell:

                            1. 6k debt on M&S credit card, county court judgement, paying £25 a month. I want to make an offer on this to clear it. Will check out letter templates for offers to make, but any advice?
                            2. 10k debt on Egg card, default served almost 4yrs ago - Part of the Marlin buyout, tempted to "wait this one out" until statute barred in 2 years. Would it be worth a cheeky offer though, or don't poke the beast?!
                            3. 6k debt on Carhoot credit card - this one is strange! Its like a frozen debt, showing on credit rating as no defaults or missed payments now, but no payment made for 4 years. Its showing as green on every credit report and not flagged at all. Looking back, the red missed payments changed to green about 2 years ago. I've not even got a letter off them for years either. Forgotten debt? Happy for it to sit there if it doesn't do anything! Although I though they had defaulted this, I think I only ever got default threats.....

                            ta muchly!

                              Hi Slug,
If it was me I'd concentrate on settling the CCJ for now. I certainly wouldn't wake Marlin up, and if the Cahoot debt is under the CRA radar I'd leave it well alone.

Mortgage companies do go back quite a few years in credit checks. Others will advise you better on this aspect, but looking at your present position in all honestly I think you'll be looking at more than 1-2 years before you can get anything like a decent deal, unfortunately.

Thanks Elsa, that's what I thought really.

Not too bothered on the mortgage front just yet, but preparing for next summer or maybe the year after - its not a massive deal anyway if nothing was available still, we'd just switch to 100% cash buy.

                                ta.
