        Re: Amex-Charge card

Though of no help I'll happily share my history of Amex.

Filled in a form on Virgin Atlantic and received what was the Gold Card for Business Travellers. Fee was £185 but waived for a year. This was 1996.

After a while they said they were ceasing this card and invited me to Platinum "by invitation only". You could not apply for Platinum then and it was the top level (outside perhaps unknown celebrity cards). The fee if I remember was circa £325. Circa 1997.

A while later I was invited to join Centurion, which had replaced Platinum at the top of the tree. This came will all manner of benefits but carried a fee of £650, again waived for a year. Circa 2000.

Kept the Centurion for a couple of years, arguing for a fee free once but then cancelled.

The only form I ever remember signing was a "back of a fag packet" thing on the flight, though I may have been required to sign something for the original gold card. I certainly did not need to sign anything for either the Platinum or Centurion black cards.

          Re: Amex-Charge card

The info I got from them was duff as it was showing a signed application for a Gold Card.
However as this type of card is not covered by the CCA1974 ,I am continuing with token payments and will try for a FFoffer soon.

              Hi Niddy
Thanks for your offer ,very much appreciated.
Actually ,I have sent off a F&F, as this is getting a pain in the butt and will go on forever, being a Charge Card no possibility of an UE!
As you all have helped me so much with this anyway I felt that I should get on and sort it as its not a regulated debt and I know that you have enough on with the UE situations .I will await their response and naturally I will update you as to their reply.

Thank God this is the only CC that I had.

Ok, nice one keep us updated and don't reply if they do accept, just in case - let me scan over it if they do and we'll sort you an acceptance letter that covers you for any shortfall etc.....
