??? Ermm, not sure about this unless you fill up in working hours Pixie, its the same Epos that Asda use in that it uses the same technology to process payments.

See this for an example of an "argument" ---> http://www.the-bastard.com/index.php...702&section=39

Ok, It seems it is unique to co-op/Barclays & tesco

      See here: ---> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...php?p=34381441

Sorry for doubting you, how strange that they allow co-op/barclays cards when the co-op card BIN is that of electron and not visa debit; as is the Barclays cash-card/visa debit?

      Its all messed up

No, I've filled up during the night when I was collecting my Dad from the airport.

        It's strange, isn't it?

        Don't doubt me in future!

I am going on the way cards work, ie BIN codes - this represents the type of card, ergo the facilities that particular card offers as well. Therefore from what you're saying the co-op card is a full debit card (offline card) with restrictions at authorisation point...

            Re: Fresh start

I haven't had any problems at all in using it - online or in store (not tried it on a plane or train) - except for Asda pay at pump.

It says Visa Debit on the card.

My credit card says gold card on the front but I bet you it aint gold! Point is, forget the card, its all to do with the BIN numbers!

                  Re: Fresh start

Are any banks still issuing an Electron card? I noted on Easy Jet web site, they don't charge a handling fee for processing your online payment if you use an Electron card. Ok, that's good, I don't want to pay a £10+ charge using my debit card!

So how do you get an electron card then?

                      Re: Fresh start

i'm on the voter register i've got myself a co op cashminder but at the same time i applied for the natwest step account i had to take passport etc in to the branch which i did. They couldn't find my orignal online application so they did it again. She asked why i wanted a step account and i told her of my problems over 8 years ago she went away and came back with a shiny new current account plus soon to be changed to select. Neither the cashminder or the natwest are offline cards so foolish or not i applied for the capital one classic. They now want me to send in passport bank account etc.

thats the update bit now for the questions i hope someone can advise

One of my debts back in 2002 was with capital one i suppose that will have an impact. and do i just photocopy the front page of the passport ?

I've checked my experian report and while it is very poor given some nice green ticks over the next few months with my co op and natwest accounts it should slowly increase. I've now got 6 searches in the last 6 months which includes 2 for each account i've opened or tried to open ie capital one. Is the fact they have asked me for further proof a good sign or not ?

                        Re: Fresh start

I would think normal security. Barclays also do a decent basic account if you want even more green ticks. Ask for the form, but don't complete it in branch as they'll turn you down. Send it off and they'll accept you.

                          Casper,
Why will the application have more chance of success in the post than in the branch? Nothing to do with the way the applicant looks I hope!

                            Re: Fresh start

When I got one, I explained my circumstances to the lady who said they'd never had one accepted in the branch, but if sent off they always succeeded. There's only a credit check for ID purposes, so it's a strange one, but there we go. They gave me an account so I'm not complaining. It's only to be used as a parachute just in case though.

Its the capital one credit card i'd like i'd give up my cashminder for an offline card as sometimes i do need it. The natwest account will be my main account it just looks like with capital one its going to take awhile. Do i photocopy the passport page with my photo i assume so lol

has anyone recently applied for capital one ? this would be my first credit card in 8 years!

I want one of those then! So Barclays just check the CRA for electoral roll but don't look at all my defaults? I have recently started to re-invent myself anyway. I'm going back to my maiden name (there has to be some perks to being dumped and divorced). I took myself off the electoral roll in April by stating "registered elsewhere". When the usual September form comes through the letterbox I will put myself on it as Ms Maiden Name. I didn't do it simultaneously because the helpful man at the council told me that would show on CRAs as "name change/update" so link to my bad past. Don't want that. I've changed my photo driving licence which is as good as a passport for bank stuff. And I've changed my council tax to Ms Maiden Name so I've got a utility bill to provide for stuff too. Borderline naughty I know - but worth a try.
