    It's not up to you to find out the facts for them; they should have the facts before making demands for money.

    Besides, I think they're well aware that this one is complicated..... they're just playing stupid in the hope that you'll either bite or cave in. Please don't think that debt collectors care about the history of an account and any anomalies; they want their pound of flesh and that's it.
    Remember the mantra:
    NEVER communicate by 'phone.
    Send EVERYTHING by Recorded/Special Delivery
    Keep a copy of EVERYTHING sent
    Keep hold of EVERYTHING received

      Hmmm thanks ... I get that ... its good to have another view on this fiasco, now going on for 13 years old..... My partner tells me those type of views, I m learning lol....

        And while this is true (that they don't care), in your case the longer that DLC ignore the dispute regards the balance, this also puts them in breach of FCA CONC guidelines, specifically:

        7.13.4
        "Before pursuing a customer for the repayment of a debt, a firm must take reasonable steps to verify the accuracy and adequecy of the available data so as to ensure that the true customer is pursued for the debt and that they are pursued for the correct amount"

        So if they cannot demonstrate how/why they believe they are pursuing the correct amount then they will struggle.......

          Oh my.... it never ceases to amaze me the knowledge base on here.... thanks to you both, and thanks salt n vinegar for that quote.... very reassuring. I ll pin that somewhere for my periods of doubt ...lol, Im old school where debt and doing what's right is concerned...

            Good morning, tho not so good for me, I am really desperate for opinions ...I received two letters this morning and really don t know what to do or think about them.
            I always thought court things had to be signed for and come from solicitors, ???

            These letters seem to totally ignore me and what I am trying to say...so would be grateful for comeback from P1 and anyone else for that matter...what shall I do now ?

                          No you wouldn't, unless you actually live in Northampton which you don't. The hearing is always held in the nearest county court to the Defendant. Northampton is the office base of the County Court Bulk Claims Centre where all the preliminary paperwork is processed.

                          Don't worry about that yet since this may never come to court if we can knock it on the head before then

                            Seeing as they couldn't substantiate any figure to us, it'll be interesting to see how they're going to explain why they can suddenly do it now.......
