Re: Fred Bassett v 1st Credit (Halifax)

    Guys

Flower posted a link earlier - please try and keep 1st credit related queries there. You're all worrying over nothing, this is perfectly normal for 1st credit and we've seen it 3 times here now - stop stressing.

The OFT requirements will be removed. They are nothing to do with this debate, they are out of date and I would have put them up here myself if I wanted them here. Remember 1st Credit is the only DCA we allow access to read the open forum. I have a working relationship with them and I will not ruin that for the sake of a few people not following our lead.

We do not want 1st credit threads all over the place. Blue Star has created a helpful guide, lets use that.

Those that have had help from me, to resolve their 1st credit problems will be the first to back this hard-line stance I am taking.

    Thanks.

Yes, this is nothing new when a company buys a tranche of delinquent accounts. Thanks for linking it here...

I've now received a letter from Connaught Collections, the gist of which is "cough up or our client might consider legal action".

What are this lot like to deal with?

Is this the first and only letter you've had on this 1st Credit account since August 2012. They took their time to contact you

No, but I've listed everything in my UE diary.

              Cheers.

Re: Fred Bassett v 1st Credit (Halifax)

I think there are some dirty tricks going on. I've just checked my credit report and 2 things stand out.

Firstly, the amount owed has gone down by £92, suggesting that a payment has been made which is absolutely not the case.

Secondly, apparently a default has been registered - no default notice has been received.

I am aware of the propensity of organisations such as 1st Credit to create these phantom payments so that they can then try and reset the SB clock.

Could somebody please advise me of the best way to proceed here.

                Cheers.

                Fred

Re: Fred Bassett v 1st Credit (Halifax)

I've just re-visited this and now I'm even more convinced that there is some skullduggery going on. The actual outstanding balance is what I would expect it to be, but what is different is that the "opening" balance is quoted as £92 higher than it should have been, but has then been reduced to match the balance as I knew it - almost as if it was deliberately amended so that I wouldn't spot it.

                  I don't know what's going on here but I don't trust it.

                  Regards.

                  Fred

Not too sure, but could be a long shot

If you've made a screen shot on your credit history (Noodle), and then something changes ie Phantom payment (then you got proof). It's just that I also looking (keeping an eye on) at 1st Credit on one of my UE accounts.

                      Hi Fred

Take a wee peek at my thread BOS - 1st Credit - Threat of Satutory Demand (sorry don't know how to link it).

That will give you some idea how much power Niddy has with this company. He is amazing, another wonder of the world in our eyes (and many others on here)

I am sure they have alarm bells on his email address....he has a brilliant relationship with 1st Credit.

Well it's been a while, but today I got this:

Any advice on how to reply would be much appreciated. Niddy has advised that this one is UE, but I'm always a bit nervous when it gets to this stage. Will update my UE diary.

                        Cheers.
