Talking of postage I find it funny when a dca sends out a threat-o-gram giving you 10 days from date of letter to reply otherwise all kinds of nasty things will happen to you. Their letters often dated a week or so before posting so impossible to reply within their timescale. If I do choose to reply (wind them up) I always wait till the 10 days have passed then send it 2nd class (witting 2nd class under the stamp) just to show them the importance I’ve given to their idle threats.

That's instead of writing "PAYMENT ENCLOSED" on the envelope and putting on only 1p in postage, so they'll be charged the rest plus any Royal Mail admin fee?

          Re: MINT and NatWest post

Just to update on my 2 recently posted 1st class recorded delivery letters to Mint....

I made a complaint to Royal mail a couple of days ago...
One letter posted on 26/3/12 still not delivered, and one sent on 3/4/12 .....not yet delivered.....

          They got back today...
All the usual...we are reliable blah,blah,blah.....but you have to leave it for 15 days, and then you may want to claim compensation...
They do say that 1st class is usually next day.....

So thats 2 letters both with important information i wanted Mint to read......

I get 100% what's already been said about if it went to court you have proof of postage.....but to have to pay just over £5.00 for special next day delivery is really taking the p***!!!

I rather doubt that a urine sample would be an acceptable means of payment.

Special Delivery is not inexpensive, but next working day delivery is guaranteed - and almost always achieved. It is still much less expensive than delivering the item oneself.

Same email as I got, but I am going to escalate it.
As for special, I will take Niddys advice and stick to recorded for important stuff and proof of posting for "normal"

                Re: MINT and NatWest post

I have escalated the complaint telling them to cut the bull and even pre empted their excuse about the new sorting office (posted two before and two after it opened).
Said that out of posting 20 odd recorded delivery the only 4 not to get a signature are all to that address .
Even told them that when the Warrington office opened the people of one of the cheshire villages have stopped posting letters locally cos it takes so long . (The guy at the post office just pops the letter into the postmans bag ...didn't say that bit)

What else should he do with Recorded Delivery items, given that they are carried with ordinary mail and only recorded at all at the delivery office/depot and when finally delivered?

                    Re: MINT and NatWest post

No not recorded cloggy. It is a rural village that is also the delivery point for mail to all sorts of outlieing farms, houses etc. So If I posted a letter to somewhere in the district, rather than in the letter box going to warrington, back to the village and out, he just bypasses warrington and gives it to the postman who does that round.

Just to let you know that there has been a change of telephone number for checking if postal order has been cashed.

                      You will now need to use - 08457 22 33 44 (option 5)
