      Re: Nationwide Charges

      Mark,

Just about to attempt some dinner so i'll have a read of their reply to you and draft up another letter for you this evening because no we are not giving up as that is what they want and besides as I now bank with the nationwide it is good practice for me.

I was rushed into hospital out of hours service on saturday due to level 9 pain in my abdomen and was sent straight upto surgical assessment ward for an operation to remove a perforated appendix. I came home the day after my birthday on the 5th June and although sore am making good recovery under the care of my wife and family.

So my days right now are sleep and internet lol

            Re: Nationwide Charges

            Mark,

It says in their reply that you have not had any charges which have not previously been refunded since 29th May 2012 is this correct or not as the last unpaid S/0 Fee was on the 29th Jan 2013 on you list taken from statements ?

Just need to get the facts right in the next submissive to them.

              Re: Nationwide Charges

              Hey Pompey

It's good to see you back and in good spirits

The list of charges I gave are correct. The only refund of charges they have made, are the ones mentioned in the first letter:

'Charges incurred in October 2012 and debited in November to January 2013'. - totaling the £30 they eventually refunded, minus the interest charges.

So they are technically correct in that statement.

Although I would mention that they told me the refund would be given within 5 working days, the date of their first letter was the 17th of May, and the refund actually happened on the 31st of May, after I sent in the second letter with a copy of their first reply.

                  Hey everyone,

I am still looking for a letter to reply back to Nationwide with, if someone can help at all?

I've received a recent bank statement that shows that even though they did a refund of £30, I have now been charged an interest charge of £0.07...?!

If you all think I am fighting a losing battle, then I shall admit defeat, but I just can't stand the thought of them charging me all that money, which I could really use about now!

Any help at all would be appreciated.

                  Mark

                      Hi Mark

Email/write to them and ask for a breakdown in detail, as you want to know where this interest is coming from.

You could email/write letter to the dept who's dealing with it and copy one on to the CEO.

                        Does this sound ok?

I note that on the 29th of June 2013 a 'Interest/Charge of £0.07 was taken from my account, now leaving the total at -£0.07.

I wish to have a full breakdown of where the interest is coming from, as I was not expecting any further charges to be made to my account, whilst I am claiming back a full refund of all the charges made to my account.

I would be grateful for this as soon as possible, so that I can give the information to the organisation that is helping me re-claim these charges.

I received a reply from Nationwide from the message I sent them above:

                          Dear mark.1980

                          Thank you for your message.

I'm sorry to hear you have incurred an interest charged on your FlexAccount.

Between 1 May and 31 May your current account was overdrawn but within the arranged overdraft limit.

Nationwide will not charge for the day to day running of your account. However, charges are made if you do not have an arranged overdraft and your account becomes overdrawn or you exceed the arranged overdraft limit.

You were notified of these charges in your June online statement, the charges were debited from the account 28 days from this date.

We are unable to provide the information you have requested regarding a breakdown of charge costs. This is due to the commercial sensitivity of such information.

Nationwide makes every effort to ensure that our charges compare favourably with those of other leading financial organisations.

                            Hi Mark

They should have details of the breakdown to know what they are dealing with.

Do you know the details of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the business?
I would be emailing/writing to the CEO and give him or her the details of your complaint, and that you requested for a breakdown of the calculations, where you were recently informed they could not oblige to your request. (I would enclose a copy of the letter you received), and state that you understand they must hold the details as they working from this in the first place and you have the right to ask for a copy of any information that is connected to your account.
Ask the CEO to get this looked into by 7 days of your email/letter.

To save me scrolling all the way back, have you sent a Subject Access Request (SAR) to the business? (To request for all the information held on your account)?
