0161 is the STD Code though for Manchester so many of the calls with this code would be legit.

01614239* seem to all be routed through cable and wireless.

most of the numbers in that block are for outgoing calls only .. for example 01614239999 are an aviva outbound calls number ..

I shall keep mooching see what I can find

that phone number exchange area registered in Manchester is of Newton Street and New York Street Manchester.

It comes from either 1 Portland office block or City Tower Office Block. Both are managed and maintained by a company called Bruntwood Properties whom lets outs office spaces. no news on the exact number.

I've no idea who that number belongs to, but after reading this thread it seems to spell trouble . So I've logged it in my handset under "Who the Fuck" so that should help if it ever calls me
