What they been doing for the past 5 years then?!

This sounds like a last-ditched attempt to get you to re-acknowledge a debt before SB status kicks in. Also, if it's taken them this long to act upon it, then the chances of them having any enforceable paperwork will be low anyway.
Never heard from these people before, they're new to me?

They're new to you (Link) because they've bought a debt from someone else for peanuts..... and are now chasing you for the original alleged outstanding balance. That's how they make a profit.

Ignore for now though, as said though.

Had exactly the same when Link started on me. Seems to be their standard tactic. They bought my debt back in 07 as well, didn't hear from them until last year. I've had everything from reductions in how much I 'need' to pay to threats of doorstep visits (which never materialised). They have my phone numbers so have accidentally spoken to them a couple of times, they are full of threats. If they ever do call just fail security. Saying that they told me the details of why they were calling even though I didn't give them my details.

As said, they buy up either close to, or already SB debt in the hopes the debtor doesn't know their rights and either resets the SB clock or starts paying not knowing they don't have to.

How would they set the SB clock ticking again?

              Re: Link Financial

By you paying or writing in acknowledging it is your debt. Writing and saying "get fooked" does NOT acknowledge it. Saying "I last paid 6 years ago" DOES affect it

Link have been known to pay a £ to the account themselves to keep it from going SB.

So even when it's gone SB I still don't say I last paid **** or is it OK to say when I last paid after it's SB?

By tricking you into acknowledging that the debt is yours - possibly by you making a payment.

                        Sam,

I am not saying the above has happened in your case, but merely pointing out what they are capable off.

If this is the case though it will still be SB when the period is reached.

I got one of those too. They still don't know for certain I am the correct debtor as I've never confirmed any of my details with them
