  • New to me DCA or I suspect!

Evening all, just a quick enquiry if I may, I have just checked my Credit report with Noddle and noticed a search has been done a couple of days ago by a DCA named as Intrum UK ltd. strange thing is I have no idea who they are or what they may be sneeking for? I suspect I may receive a 'welcome' letter from them soon, so anybody had dealings with them. any curve balls I should be aware of other than the usual drivel?
    Thanks in advance.

1st Credit Ltd changed their name to Intrum UK Limited on 1st March 2018.

Intrum is not a Debt Collection Agency they are a debt purchaser.

Do you have a debt with 1st Credit (now Intrum) which you'd like some help?

So I’ve arrived home and have a letter from a ‘credit ‘security ltd’ which don’t appear to be part of intrum, can anybody throw any light on who these may be?
From their letter they are ‘specialist debt collection agency’ does that make them anymore significant?

it still leaves me wondering what intrum wanted in my credit file?

CSL, i think one of my accounts was passed to them,
if i remember correctly ( 6 years is a long time) i sent a CCA request, they send back a letter saying they needed £1 fee.
I replied with, you had the fee you cashed it the same day that you typed this letter, please have a whip round in the cashiers department as i expect a reply to the CCA request in 14 days.

i never got one, they passed it back to the OC.
            toothless wonders,

I agree with NW they were quite easy to get rid of.

Does the letter name the creditor or debt owner (or business/company) who they are acting as agent for and/or the amount which may give you a clue?

It's not possible to comment meaningfully without knowing the full history of this debt, so why not start a Diary where you can list all nine of your debts to get help using this format >
                    • Type of account (credit card/loan/overdraft/catalogue)
                    • Date commenced (ideally before April 2007)
                    • Approx balance
                    • Date last paid (approximate date you last made a FULL payment)

                      Update:
as I Thought these have purchased a CC from the OC which I had been paying a nominal £5pm too for many years. So now let the games begin! I’ll stop payments until they can provide sufficient proof that they not only own but have a legal claim to collect. When I make it home I’ll take a closer look at the letter that arrived today to read the ‘small’ print as it didn’t sound correct over the phone. ??

Its unwise to suggest or advise without more detailed information.
what is " .. SUFFICIENT PROOF .. LEGAL CLAIM TO COLLECT .." ???
I would reiterate here Di's advice "..IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO COMMENT MEANINGLFULLY WITHOUT KNOWING THE FULL HISTORY OF THIS DEBT .."

So thanks for assistance so far, I will when the time calls start a full on diary, at the moment I feel that I can handle the situation as it stands.

only question I would ask is; Is there a standard format to which constitutes a Notice of Assignment? are there set items/terms that should be stated, perhaps a heading Notice of Assignment for example? Or do these cretins tend to issue a Notice in a more subtle way, such as only making reference to the fact they have been assigned?

                          Thanks as always.

                            Why are you asking?
I personally would be reluctant to give what could only be generalised advice without at least a rudimental knowledge of a specific and particular Case.
                            Cases do vary!
AAD does provide through the webmaster a service to look at responses to CCA S 77/78 (plus £1) requests.
If you have such documents I would advise sending unredacted copies to Niddy but he will almost certainly want to look at the background (diary entry).
I personally regret not starting the AAD Diary process right from the beginning.
My advice and that shared by AADers is that creating a Diary is the best way actually take control of your debts
AAD advice will then be Current in response to the Actual Diary.

I value your comments Roger, I'm just very wary about putting too much info up too soon because I understand that these cretins also read the web! I have heard of cases whereby the solicitor produces screenshots from forums etc, so I think probably best not too draw too much attention whilst I'm still managing, Rightly or wrongly I guess? I still respect the opinions of those with greater experience on this forum, perhaps I'm being over cautious?

In respect to my question, having received an intro letter from this Intrum people it merely makes a fleeting reference to debt being assigned but doesn't not use the words ' Notice of Assignment' ?
