Re: Link Financial Outsourcing ... Plz help

    Hi Lakeslass

I've only just seen your thread as I wasn't online last night.

As the others have said, you have no need to worry about this. Just ignore the letter and get on with your life. You're not financially linked to your parents so they won't lose their home.

If (and I very much doubt it) Link get in touch with you again, just post on here and we'll help you with what to do next.

Why not have a look at the parts of the site which aren't debt-related?

      Hi Lakeslass,

Good to see you getting exactly the right advice from the experts on here.

The first point to understand is that when people receive a letter like this, they think that it personally aimed at them. If they could see all of the other phishing letters that Stink and other similar low-life organisations send out to other addresses, they would realise that it is just part of a “scatter gun” approach. Yours is just one of many such letters routinely sent out by those just hoping that someone, somewhere, is going to bite.

The most important fact of all is this – if you left for a Third World country (wasn't Scotland, was it?) in January 2006, any alleged debt WILL be statute barred. No may about it. It WILL be. The only exceptions are, if it was a mortgage (which have a much longer period before limitation), or if there is a County Court Judgment obtained on the debt. If there was a judgment, anyone trying to collect on it now would have to go back to the court and explain why they have done nothing for the past six years.

Look at it from their point of view. If you had knowledge of a genuine debt which someone owed to you, would you send them a vague letter with no account number, no balance, no proof that they owed the money, just saying that “someone had applied for credit” in their name. Not a chance! And neither would these cretins if they actually thought they had a genuine case.

These morons are not worth wasting a postage stamp on unless they come up with something that actually means something. That is, the name of an original creditor, an account number, and an alleged balance. If they supply these, you can send them a “statute barred” template letter and tell them to disappear.

Why do you need to know about your credit rating? Unless you have a specific reason for wanting to know about it, it is probably best left alone. Come to think of it, even if you did have a specific reason, it would still be best left alone.

As for how old the debt is, I can tell you that now - old enough. That is even if Stink's idiotic letter refers to anything of yours in the first place, which it probably doesn't.

It wouldn't matter if you owned the Crown Jewels and the whole of the Royal estate. Stink would still get exactly the same bugger all that they are going to get now.

If your father genuinely is worried about this, he needs to read a cheap law book. Any one of which will inform him that NO parents can EVER be held responsible for the alleged debts of their children.

Of course, in this case, it hasn't even been established that any such alleged debts exist in the first place.
