Hi, thanks for asking. Not good I'm afraid, he is no better �� we are waiting for a referral to a neurologist and they have started him on a course of anti depressants so we are taking each day as it comes.

The tests for malaria came back negative as did hep A. He's back at the ENT specialist on Friday but we are not holding our breath

property management company going out on Saturday to do an inspection of the gas boiler and cooker and check the mold.

What happened about the carbon monoxide inspection and mould tests? Even if your son is poorly with something else, the mould could be aggravating things or holding back his recovery

Hi Plan B, the carbon monoxide testing came back negative - we moved Josh out for over a week and his health did not improve, in fact if anything it is worse He has tested negative for malaria and hep A. His GP is totally at a loss; he is fading away in front of us, they came home a couple of weekends ago and he weighs less than 10 stone I went up to attend his doctors appoint with him last Friday - eventually they have referred him to a nuerologist but we are not sure of the waiting time. In the meantime he has been prescribed anti depressants - he was very much against taking these for a while but the doctor explained he has got so low his body is just not fighing anything. We have convinced him it will do no harm, even if he doesnt need them they wont kill him...... I am just praying the appointment will come through quickly as he is so sad, my heart breaks everyday talking to him.

Sneaking on here in work time - sorry Plan B - with regards to the mold my husband and Josh scrubbed it all off the ceiling and then resealed with special paint - they have also got an dehymidifyer in their bedroom so it hopefully wont come back....

My best friend's daughter spent 4 long years without diagnosis for her similar symptoms. Eventually it was conceded that she had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (so wrongly called Yuppie 'Flu). The minute the problem had a label she had a cure. I'm posting a link on CFS (also known as ME) from the BUPA website because if they take ME seriously then so should everyone in the medical profession. Too many people have dismissed it as being "all in the mind". I'm not for one minute suggesting that your son has ME but you're a brilliant mother who is searching for answers and I'll keep throwing out ideas until you get the right answer.

Plan B his gp did mention ME but said as josh has only been poorly since July it's to early to label it this! 6 years ago I fell pregnant and then almost immediately thought I had miscarried. I spent the next 16 weeks convinced I was pregnant but no one would listen, it was only when I ended up very poorly and admitted to hospital that a 12 week baby was discovered in the space between my uterus and stomach. For those weeks I felt no one was listening me, I was basically told I was losing my mind. The treatment I received from both the medical profession and I hate to say it my friends and family made me feel worse. Probably because of my experience I am very mindful that josh needs us to take his symptoms seriously. Any suggestions are gratefully received. I cannot let him feel alone

Esther Rantzen's daughter had ME which was cured by the Lightening Process, and my neighbour's son recovered in the same way. It does seem to attack young people and often high-achievers too. My neighbour's son went on to get a first class degree at Oxford having spent the previous year in a wheelchair when he became so bad. Only then did doctors take it seriously. Hi all, just a quick up date - the ENT specialist is organising a CT Scan for Josh - she hopes it will be sooner rather than later...... and breathe...... think we are actually getting somewhere.

Really positive update tonight, josh had his teeth sorted (3 filings ) on Wednesday. They took out his silver ones and replaced them with white ones. His headache seems to have gone as has his dizziness and sickness.


He has been on the anti depressants for two weeks now and is going to the gym each day, has started gentle workouts and lots of swimming.


He sounds almost like his old self brightness in his voice, wants to plan Christmas it's like a miracle to me. I could cry


Not sure what's causing the uplift in him but long may it last

That's really good Jane...and interesting as there's been controversy for years about the effects of amalgam fillings on some people, due to leaching of mercury gases.
I wouldn't jump to conclusions, but this gives you an idea:

A 1991-1997 study of 3162 patients in Sweden and Germany found that 719 of those with mercury fillings, or 23 percent, tested positive for systemic allergic sensitivity to inorganic mercury on the MELISA lymphocyte proliferation test.^[34] In a smaller group of 85 patients who suffered from symptoms resembling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and had their amalgams replaced with composites and metal-free ceramics, "over 78 percent reported improvement in health status as compared to the period prior to metal removal."[34

Well a quick update if any one is interested; since having his fillings changed Josh is back to his old self all symptoms gone, he is going to the gym 5 times a week and sounds so happy

The best news is yesterday he was offered another job one that's linked to his degree and has real prospects. It's 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and so his work life balance will be so much better too


I don't think we will ever really know what caused him to be so poorly but we seem to be through the other side now thank god oh and they are home on Boxing Day
