Re: Can category 6/first party fraud marker be removed

    Hi,

Sorry Plan B I've only just noticed your reply. That makes more sense now that you've explained it. Fingers crossed she realised that I am genuine. I only asked the counter staff because I thought they knew best and that's why I explained everything about the cheque etc to see if it was legitimate.

The complaints manager rang me today, I didn't answer because I was in work but I've had a voicemail from her and a text as well with her number and employee pin.

Should I ring her back tomorrow or wait for a letter? Thought it best to ask on here first just in case.

I hope it's good news, fingers crossed. I don't want to get my hopes up though.

The bank (counter staff) should have rejected the cheque at the time if they were suspicious. It's not your fault they didn't do their due diligence.

The letter you/Niddy wrote shifts the blame back to the bank where it belongs.

You were definitely right in what you said I've received a letter dated 13th Jan which is essentially a holding letter stating that they were gathering and reviewing information. Seriously hoping for good news.

Re: Can category 6/first party fraud marker be removed

Good news 😃 I rang Lloyds and they've removed the CIFAs warning. The complaints manager was lovely. She insists that the counter staff were not in the wrong based on their actions but because they never took me seriously or explained to me what happened etc they've offered me £75 compensation. Frankly I think it doesn't make up for all the stress it's caused me or the amount of money I've lost out on due to having a paid bank account and paying to cash cheques etc but it was never about the money for me I'm just glad they acknowledged how badly they've treated me.

Thank you so much for your help Niddy. I will be eternally grateful!

I am so happy that in a month I'll be able to open a proper bank account and savings account and not have to feel like/be treated like a criminal anymore.

          Thank you so much xx

              What excellent news!

I agree that £75 is a miserable amount of compensation.

Why not tot up what it has actually cost you in real terms when you were made to bank like a second class citizen.

Did you get refused credit during the time their CIFAS marker was on your CRA files?

I hope they put the 'offer' in writing. Make a note of everything that was said during that call which should have been recorded in case you need it in future.

It's not even about the money it's the principle. Nearly 5 years of misery and they haven't really acknowledged the results of their actions.

I will work it out but as an estimate it's got to be at least £400 if not more.

Yes I've been refused credit refused bank accounts and also had bank accounts opened then closed because of the cifas. But I actually applied for accounts with Yorkshire building society and santander on the advice of someone from Lloyds because they're "more lenient"

I've made a note of it all and she has put it in writing. They have sent me the money by bank transfer but I'm tempted to send it back because I just think accepting it makes it seem like I'm accepting their behaviour. I'd much rather them acknowledge how much it's affected my life than £75 to shut me up.

It's completely affected my confidence and I had to defer my uni place etc because for a while I didn't have a bank account and then I never got the courage to go back. I know it's only indirectly their fault but things might have been different if they'd at least tried to explain it to me and listen to my side of things sooner.

Sorry for rambling haha. But it's actually made me anxious just thinking about it all.

                    Xx
