Pensioners will have to wait an extra nine months to qualify for Winter Fuel Payments. Around 11.9 million people were eligible for payments of between £100 and £300 to help with heating costs in 2017/18. But the qualifying age for winter 2018/19 has been changed in line with the rising State Pension age. Only those born on, or before, November 5, 1953, are now eligible to claim. This means you would need to be at least 64 years, 11 months and 12 days old today in order to qualify.
