The Credit Services Association (CSA) has responded to the financial ombudsman’s figures on debt collection complaints, highlighting that the numbers reflected 0.26 per cent of all cases across the consumer credit industry. The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) released itsannual figures on complaints earlier this week and they showed a 51 per cent increase in complaints levelled against the debt collection industry. Now CSA president Leigh Berkley has responded, explaining that the increase was largely a result of better signposting to the ombudsman following transition to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The proportion of complaints upheld in consumer credit has also continued to fall for the fourth successive year.
