The City watchdog is investigating Lloyds after a leaked internal email raised fresh concerns about its high pressure sales culture. Branch managers and regional managers who oversee the branches have been grilled by staff at the Financial Conduct Authority about sales practices at the state-backed lender. The state-backed lender has also introduced guidelines to prevent managers harassing staff, including stopping them from calling or emailing colleagues before 8am or after 6pm. Strict diktats have been introduced on emails, including ensuring the ‘writing style is respectful to colleagues’. Staff are warned to ‘think carefully about language and tone, avoid jargon’ and ‘be careful with spelling and grammar’.
