Asbestos victims and their families urged to claim compensation as DWP sets up fund
People who have contracted a form of cancer after working with asbestos are being urged to claim their share of a compensation pot. The Mesothelioma Fund was set up by the Department for Work and Pensions in April and is funded with insurer’s cash. It offers payouts to people who suffer from the illness as well as the families of those who have died of the disease. Recipients of the money must have contracted the illness as a result of being exposed to asbestos at work through their employer’s negligence. To benefit, people must have been unable to receive compensation either because they cannot trace their employer of that time or their insurer.
