From tomorrow £50 notes featuring the face of Sir John Houblon will no longer be legal tender
Holders of £50 notes featuring the face of the Bank of England's first governor, Sir John Houblon, are being advised to cash them in at a bank before they become obsolete tomorrow. The Bank of England said there were currently around 224 million £50 notes, worth a total of £11.2bn, in circulation, of which an estimated 63 million (£3.2bn) were Houblon notes. The £50 banknote featuring Matthew Boulton and James Watt, which was introduced in 2011, will still be legal tender.....Read more here
