Npower was first out of the blocks and has decided to waive its standing charges for those hit by these floods.

Roger Hattam, director of domestic retail business at npower, said: 'Npower today confirmed that it is to waive daily standing charges on gas and electricity for customers who have lost supply through the recent floods that have impacted the South West, West Midlands and Thames Valley.
EDF Energy said it was 'more determined than ever to provide whatever help and reassurance we can to those affected' - but it stopped short of committing to waive standing charges.
It said it is preparing a flyer to distribute to affected people in Somerset which alerts them to helpline numbers for residential and small and medium business customers in the area
An EDF spokesman said: 'Whenever our customers are finding it difficult to pay their bills we always try to be flexible and take into account the individual case factors, ability to pay and specifically vulnerability. free phone number 0800 056 3264 - lines are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.'
