Payday lending ad breached responsible advertising code
A TV advert for Instant Cash Loans Ltd has been branded “irresponsible” by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) which ruled it must not appear again in its current form. Two complainants challenged whether the ad for the payday lender, which trades as The Money Shop, was irresponsible because it presented the loan as a way of addressing financial concerns. The ad featured a voiceover which said: “Loans up to £1,000 available online or from your local store, and applying for one is a walk in the park.
