'Critical' levels of debt among the nation's disabled population have been revealed today in a report that shows many are taking desperate measures- including turning to illegal lenders - to make ends meet. Struggling to cope with higher costs of living coupled with comparatively lower incomes, disabled adults are resorting to high-cost loans, sometimes from illegal lenders, to pay their bills according to disability charity Scope. Disabled people are three times more likely to take out exorbitant loans with doorstep lenders than non-disabled adults, and two times more likely to use loans to cover their costs......Read more here
