Payday lender Quick Quid has apologised for alarming potentially thousands of people after it inadvertently sent emails demanding the repayment of loans that had not been taken out. The emails threatened recipients that unless a payment is made on their loan that the debt may be sold to third party debt collectors. QuidQuick, which charges 1734 per cent APR, sent the email to people that had never had any business with it. It said that it ‘inadvertently’ sent the emails and that they should be ignored by anyone who received one. The payday lender would not admit how many people had been sent the email. However, the Financial Ombudsman Service said that they'd been contacted by a number of people filing complaints about the emails. It is now investigating these complaints.
