Amanda Roberts sued Halifax Bank of Scotland after receiving 550 calls from the bank over a single missed payment on a loan. She had missed the single loan repayment after her benefits were paid late into her account and she had no other money to pay off the debt. Miss Roberts said she had gone into her local branch of Halifax to sort out the issue over her missed loan payment, but the bank "blocked" her account in an error and staff refused to sort it out.
