She was interested and Star Loans said she would be sent an application form, but meanwhile they requested her bank details, which she gave. A few days later she found Star Loans had taken £49 from her Nationwide account, leaving her overdrawn. She has never received any loan or application form and when she contacted Star Loans she was told she would have to prove that it had taken the £49.
Meanwhile, Nationwide has charged her £40 in overdraft fees. Emma is not well off and all this has had a big impact on her and her young son.

Nationwide has speedily agreed to refund both the £49 and the £40 charges. By the time you read this, the money will be back in Emma’s account. It is clear that she was tricked into giving her bank details to a cold caller. I am sure she will not fall for this again. So, thank you to Nationwide. But what about Star Loans Limited? The company is licensed by the Office of Fair Trading and it says it is based in Tudor Lane in Cardiff, though it also uses an address in Somerton Road in Newport, Gwent.
The business is run by Syed Zain Ummar, Mohammed Ahmad Akhter and Dilu Uddin. They describe themselves as ‘a reliable experienced team of financing professionals’ who arrange unsecured loans of £250 to £15,000....Read more here: TONY HETHERINGTON: Outrage as loan firm raids bank accounts
