Nearly one and a half million ING Direct customers are set to have their accounts transferred to Barclays in March. The Dutch internet bank has written to 1.4million savers and some 70,000 mortgage customers giving them details of the switch to one of Britain’s biggest High Street banks. A High Court hearing on February 20 to approve the deal, revealed in October, should lead to the sale being rubber-stamped by City regulators in the first week of March, the letter says. Customers will then be sent their new account details.
