Insolvency manager suspected of stealing £126,000
An insolvency manager who worked for the Insolvency Service, the government agency, has been reported to the police for allegedly stealing £126,000. The Insolvency Service, which administers the insolvency regime in England and Wales, confirmed to Credit Today “internal incidents” involving the alleged theft by an employee of £126,444 from insolvent estates. This resulted in “fruitless payments,” the service claimed, of £155,343 to compensate for the estate account losses.....Read more HERETags: None

The Insolvency Service, which administers the insolvency regime in England and Wales, confirmed that Sam O’Sullivan had worked at the official receivers office in Croydon for more than 20 years. The government agency said that O’Sullivan was suspended immediately on discovery of the fraud in June 2011 and that, following an internal investigation, was dismissed in August the same year. The theft of £126,444 from insolvent estates by an employee was reported in its annual report for the year to March 2012, but up until now the Insolvency Service had refused to name the individual. O’Sullivan has pleaded guilty to six counts of fraud by abuse of position and not guilty to three others. The prosecution accepted the plea and the three not guilty counts will lie on file....Read more here

Samantha (or Sam) O’Sullivan, who had worked at the official receivers office in Croydon for more than 20 years, was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on 6 December 2012 by Judge R E Downing. She pleaded guilty to six counts of fraud by abuse of position and not guilty to three other charges.
