Middle class Scots struggling with debt will be treated harsher under proposed changes to bankruptcy laws according to two bodies. According to insolvency trade body R3 and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) proposed changes to Protected Trust Deeds (PTDs) will result in Scots becoming “slaves” to debt repayments. PTDs are, according to R3 and ICAS who both spoke out this week against plans in the Bankruptcy Law Reform Consultation organised by Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB), taken out by more affluent individuals who have a job and assets.....Read more here
