MPs on the Commons international development committee were told that Iceland receives money from an £800million-a-year Brussels fund designed to pay for infrastructure projects in countries that wish to join the European Union. Britain’s contribution to the fund, which comes out of the foreign aid budget, is worth £125million a year, but Iceland still refuses to repay more than £2billion owed to the UK.
