National debt charity Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) has appointed Anne Somers as its Marketing Director. The position is newly created and will sit on the charity’s leadership team alongside its Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and External Affairs Director. The role will involve growing, managing and giving strategic leadership to the charity’s marketing activities. This will take place at a time when large numbers of UK households are buckling under the pressure of high inflation, unemployment and welfare benefit changes. CCCS wants to ensure that these households are aware of its wide range of free debt advice services.
Anne joins CCCS from Aviva Life where she held the position of Head of Marketing and Business Development for its direct to consumer arm. StepChange Debt Charity is the new name for the Consumer Credit Counselling Service. The charity, which has been providing free debt advice and solutions since 1993, has undergone a full rebrand which includes a new website and marketing campaign. The charity has initiated the rebrand in response to a changing debt landscape. Changes include a large rise in the number of people seeking its help with multiple payday loans as well as a rise in overdraft debt. The aim of the rebrand is to reach everyone who is struggling with debt, whoever they are and wherever they are.o achieve this, the charity will be raising its profile and working more closely with creditors and other organisations to extend the reach of its services and identify people’s debt problems earlier.
