TalkTalk facing new Ofcom fine over silent calls
TalkTalk is expected to be fined up to £2million by regulator Ofcom for making silent calls to customers. The watchdog warned the telecoms group last month that it could be penalised after an investigation found it had made an excessive number of abandoned calls and had failed to keep adequate records to demonstrate that it complied with the regulator's rules. The company said it had begun consultations on the closure as it moves to "simplify" its operations and infrastructure. The plans will affect up to 390 employees in Northampton, Preston and Warrington. TalkTalk is Britain's most complained about landline phone and broadband service - again. The company, which has been awarded Money Mail's annual Wooden Spoon Award for the past two years, has once again generated the most gripes from consumers in a review of telecoms providers put together by industry regulator Ofcom, which gets an average 300 complaints a day.
