They have contracted debt buyer Arrow Global and Paragon subsidiary Moorgate Loan Servicing to manage the assets.
As well as selling Egg credit card accounts to Barclays, Citigroup sold the loans portfolio to Britannica Recoveries, a Luxembourg-registered vehicle advised by Carval.
The portfolio consists of what Citi describes as 119,000 "legacy accounts" as the loans business at Egg has been closed for more than a year. Of the accounts, 68,000 are performing and 51,000 non-performing.
Consumers have been sent ‘goodbye’ letters from Egg, telling them their accounts have been sold to Britannica and will be serviced by Arrow or Moorgate. The transfer is due to take place in early July. A spokesperson for Carval confirmed the investment.
