Parted Magic

and some others.

Sounds just as much of a headache surely just as easy to fix the win 7 issues you have.

Am gonna have to try Linux.

I'll start a thread when I clear one of my lappys and ask how to do it lol. See if it's any good or not.

I suspect I'll like it cos I love a lot of the shit you can do )

Not tried, so not 100% on that.

I just looked at the XP instructions and couldn’t be arsed any further. Linux it was.

Ahh because it's the newer SATA so you just run the slipstreaming tool usually.

All computers will load basic win drivers mate. Win XP uses these same basic drivers to allow basic config to install the OS ie basic graphics, basic bios/cmos, basic sound etc.....

No, not always.

Some new SATA drives are not recognised by the Win XP disc, even with the basic drivers, as the technology in them didn't exist when it was made.
