Re: Stupid Question time
It might be a panic alarm button.
They are allowed in Europe but not the UK as far as I know, so the panic/siren bit is disabled at the importer, hence a useless button on the blip.
.... or it could be a remote boot unlock button.

Anyway, the electronic key fob has two buttons, a large one, towards the front and set slightly to the right - this is the one that opens the doors / boot etc.
The second, smaller button, is set back and towards the left of the fob - What does this button do? lol

Re: Stupid Question time
Possibly, but there is a little red light appears if I do push the smaller button - wont do it again cos I know it CAN deprogramme the keyOriginally posted by Numpty Monkey View Postit could just be a defunct button on the fob(they use the same key fob on a range of cars, models and spec)

Re: Stupid Question time
Don't push the button
It might be the self destruct button

Like Helmsman said it's probably the immobiliser/alarm
or it could just be a defunct button on the fob(they use the same key fob on a range of cars, models and spec)

Re: Stupid Question time
Realistically, I need to get a second fob as well - never know if/when will need it - they are apparently quite straight forward to programme.
However, time for another stupid question!!
If I get a new/second fob, does the shape/cut of the key matter - as in is it like a front door key, or just this not matter if it is programmed to the car?
Hope that makes sense.
