Re: Bank of America Chester.
Unfortunately a hell of a lot of this stems from the upper management training in the USA at Harvard Business School in particular. NOTHING matters as much as the quick buck. They instil this into their various staffs right from the outset. During my time in the high tech industries I did a fair amount of contract work for IBM when thet still made hardware. The brainwashing was constant and over bearing even for the contract staff. Staffers there were all expected to wear the same blue suit, show 1.5" of pale blue cuff at the end of suit sleeve etc, double cuffs with cufflinks I could go on. But we all had to every so often go to the video about intellectual property rights, important and very useful to anyone involved in engineering design in any field. However the words "I--- B--- M" occurred every 8 seconds thoughout a 15 minute video. I know other American companies that operate the same way not least is HP, why would an American bank behave any differently.
Whne IBM pulled the plug in Hampshire there was much gnashing of teeth and wailing in the wilderness and many beleieved that their lives had come to an end they were so indoctrinated with IBM.

Garlok

Re: Bank of America Chester.
When a pregnant lady told MBNA she couldn't pay because she had just lost her job, the agent replied "can you really afford to have this baby?". So I'm not sorry for their loss.
MBNA loved me to death when I had money, and then dumped me when I didn't. Since then they've treated me shamefully. I have an ex-husband like that - I don't need two bloodsuckers in my life.

Point I am making is, as a brand they are rotten to the core and all brands work from the ground up. Ergo the staff, in whatever capacity, have made MBNA the way they are today. I guarantee you the Chief Exec didn't say "Ring Mr Harrison 200 times today" - that was the clows that work in collections, so them, their manager and the head of plus director of that unit are ALL equally responsible.
And to be fair to some, they dont look at things or research, they are just sheep who believe everything they are told. If they are told it is fine/fair/legal they believe it all. But they are just naive (or stupid in some cases) and put complete trust in their colleagues.
Have to agree that their collections policies are abhorrent though, and that they are an awful company (and worse since BoA came in).

I always refer back to the whistleblower that got a job with Lowell and refused to do what the scripts suggested (ie bully and intimidate people) and her TL was shouting at her and calling the customer all sorts of names - so now, for instance, when that ex MBNA staff goes for JSA I hope the JC+ staff with an MBNA account (in arrears) delay their claim and/or refuse it and cause a 26 week pending delay
Bitter? me? Never

Well said. Usually I'd not agree with people losing jobs etc, but when it's a case of "see how you like it" then yea, why not?
Thing is MBNA were predatory in their harassment of thousands of consumers, such examples include Keith Harrison - now I do not know him (well I kinda do) but I bet he won't have much sympathy for the staff at MBNA - they hounded and systematically tried to grind him and his family into the ground - please guys, lets not forget that!
MBNA & their staff deserve everything they get - and some!
Still that's one in book should there ever be a next time.

Now they will have to take their medicine!
Section 49 of the Consumer Credit Act, 1995 forbids any attempt to pursue an unenforcible agreement.

Soon, many will experience exactly what those MBNA customers had to contend with!
I agree with garlok though in that our great skills and industry is being eroded by the temporary quick buck to be made in the financialsicktorsector.
